General Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a Baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering or another related engineering field from an accredited college or university in the United States, or its equivalent from a foreign institution
  • A minimum 3.0 grade point average is required, based on the last 60 graded semester hours or last 90 graded quarter hours of undergraduate and graduate study

Application Process

Applications for Graduate and Graduate Non-Matriculated students are submitted electronically through the Graduate School. You will create a new applicant profile, select your application type (graduate or graduate non-matriculated), and choose "Civil & Environmental Engineering - MS in Civil Engineering (online)" as the graduate program.

Fees

The Graduate School online application requires a $75 (USD) application fee. The fee is paid online using MasterCard or Visa credit or debit cards. Graduate Nonmatriculated (GNM) applications do not require an application fee.

Submit Application Materials

The following materials must be submitted in the online application by all applicants:

  • Statement of purpose
  • Unofficial transcripts
Applicants to the master’s degree program must also submit:
  • Letters of Recommendation
    Two letters of recommendation are required. You will enter the email addresses of your recommenders and they will be sent an email directing them to a secure website to submit their letter.

  • Official transcripts - Domestic
    When you accept your formal offer of admission by the department, you must then provide an official final degree transcript to the Graduate School. See Graduate School mailing instructions and address.

International Applicants

  • Official transcripts - International
    To insure your transcripts sent from overseas will be received in time if you are offered admission by the department, we strongly encourage you to have your transcripts sent at the time you submit your online application. When you receive notification that you have been recommended for admission by your graduate program, you must then submit official transcripts and additional application materials to the Graduate School.   • English Language Proficiency
    Every applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency. See Graduate School Memorandum #8 and English proficiency tests comparison tables for the University's policy. Request official test scores be sent to Institution Code 4854, Dept. Code 65. Test scores must be less than two years from test date. A degree from the US will fulfill the English proficiency requirement.
