Upon completion of the Graduate Program in Construction Engineering, you will earn either an M.S. in Civil Engineering or an M.S. in Construction Management. Which degree you earn depends on your undergraduate degree and the department to which you apply. Regardless of which department you apply to, the curriculum and degree requirements are the same.

If your undergraduate degree is in engineering, you should apply to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering to earn the M.S. in Civil Engineering. If your educational background is in a field other than engineering, you should apply to the Department of Construction Management to earn the M.S. in Construction Management. -->
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- An appropriate bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the United States, or its equivalent from a foreign institution:
- For Civil Engineering: BS in Civil Engineering or other engineering discipline
- For Construction Management: BS in Construction Management or Civil Engineering – or other degree with prerequisite courses*
- A grade point average of 3.0 or better is required, based on the last 60 graded semester hours or last 90 graded quarter hours of undergraduate and graduate study. If your GPA is below 3.0, consider starting as a Graduate Nonmatriculated (GNM) student.
- Applicants for the M.S. in Construction Management must submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, a statement of goals and objectives and letters of recommendation. The GRE is not required for applicants for the M.S. in Civil Engineering
- International applicants: The UW Graduate School requires every applicant whose native language is not English to demonstrate English language proficiency. See Graduate School Memorandum #8 and English proficiency tests comparison tables for the University's policy.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE GRE EXAM
Applicants for the M.S. in Construction Management must submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, a statement of goals and objectives and letters of recommendation. The GRE is not required for applicants for the M.S. in Civil Engineering. The requirement for the GRE may be waived for individuals who have earned an advanced degree (master's or higher) from accredited U.S. institutions. Please contact the department reviewing your application to inquire about a waiver (see contact information).

For those who either are not sure about the degree or are concerned about their academic and professional backgrounds, another option is to enroll first as a graduate nonmatriculated (GNM) student. GNM students are not presently seeking a degree, but may apply a maximum of 12 graduate level credits toward degree requirements should they be accepted into a graduate program. It is important to note that acceptance as a GNM student does not imply admission to a graduate degree program.
